Environmental Reclamation Services, LLC Achieves Prestigious ISO 14001:2004 Certification
-- ERS meets strict requirements for international environmental responsibility --

ERIE, PA - (September 29, 2009) ERS, LLC, a leading supplier of aftermarket products and services to the printer supplies and cellular industries, has been awarded the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System certification. Certification was granted by QMI - SAI Global on September 15, 2009.

The ISO 14001:2004 international standard provides both a model for streamlining environmental management and guidelines to ensure environmental issues are considered within decision-making practices. ERS earned the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System accreditation after a series of audits at its office and warehouse facility in Erie, PA.

ERS designs and administers reverse logistics programs for empty inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges and used cell phones. They provide a rigorous inspection process of all such goods to ensure maximum quality to all customers. The vast majority of the collected items are sold for remanufacturing. Items without market value are either recycled or sent to waste-to-energy.

Since the early 2009 implementation of a documented Zero Landfill Initiative, ERS has all but eliminated the amount of material sent to landfill through company-wide recycling programs such as paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastics. By weight, 98% of all incoming material at ERS is used or recycled. Throughout their offices ERS has reduced electricity usage and introduced convenient recycling centers for employees.

Initiatives for 2010 include continuation of the Zero Landfill Initiative, reducing overall energy consumption, further increasing recycling and improving environmental awareness throughout the company and community.
